- Instructional Permit Test
- We do offer
the Permit testing. It will include collecting all necessary
paperwork, testing (written and vision) and delivering all to the
D.P.S. office for printing your Learner's Permit. The fee for the
service is $30.00, which will be added to your contract balance
which is due at the beginning of the 3rd week of class.
To qualify for your permit you must be 15-17 years old
and attend class the first eight(6) hours.
If you do
not wish to test with Automatic Driving School, you will be given a DE-964 certificate
(Green certificate) at the end of the first week of class. This is
necessary for you to be able to test at the DPS. The items listed
below will be necessary for you to have at the DPS. Automatic D.
S. does not need these items from you.
It will
be necessary to bring the following items by Wednesday of the
first week of class or on test date:
The DPS will only
accept ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, no copies or facsimilies.
1.
Proof of identification (one of the following) ....Birth
Certificate - State issued - no hospital cert. accepted
- ....Texas I.D. Card
....U.S.
Passport ....U.S. Resident Alien Card ....Court Order Name Change
along with birth cert.
*If you were born
outside of the U.S. you must present: U.S. Passport or U.S. Alien
Card.
2. Proof of Social Security (one of the
following) ....Social Security Card
- ....Social Security Affidavit
3. TEA Form - from previous/current School
Attendance office
-
If registering for a summer class make sure to get the TEA/VOE
form from the high school attendance office.
4. Application pre-filled
out. Automatic D.S. will issue the application.
5. Parent must sign application and have notarized.
The driving school will notarize if testing with Automatic
D.S.
6. Glasses or Contacts
7. DE-964
certificate. ADS will issue.
NOTES: The
student will receive their Birth Certificate, Social Security Card
and application receipt back after testing
and passing all areas and the DPS has printed the application fee
receipt. The permit will be issued within a
few days after the permit receipt is issued.
The student can not drive with an expired permit or a copy of the
permit.
If the student
wears glasses or contacts the instructional permit will state
Restriction A.
The permit will have a restriction B for
Licensed Operator 21 or over in the front seat.
The
permit will have a date under the P-restriction, This is the date
you may go get your drivers license if 16 and over. This is your 6
month waiting period date. |
